Makoto Kurosaki's Kodama series is a masterpiece of Japanese craftsmanship and artistry. In Japanese folklore, “Kodama (木霊)” are spirits that inhabit trees, this knife is inspired by nature in its wild beauty reflected in its distinctive 3-dimensional Damascus pattern - a mesmerizing blend of flowing lines, raindrops and the texture of tree bark.
Its core is VG-10W stainless steel (an enhanced version of VG-10 with 0.4% added tungsten) and hardened to 61 HRC, the blade offers exceptional sharpness, durability, and easy maintenance. Its convex grind minimizes food sticking, while enhancing edge toughness and cutting performance. The octagonal handle, crafted from warm cherry wood with a striking green pakka wood ferrule, complements the knife’s natural theme. This symmetrical handle design ensures comfort for both left and right handed users.
Handcrafted by Makoto Kurosaki, a renowned sharpener and knife designer from Takefu Knife Village, the Kodama is a testament to his expertise, offering a knife that is both an exquisite work of art and a high-performance kitchen tool.
